Perhaps Ramanujan’s work contains a message for contemporary mathematicians. We might allow our untamed, formal arguments more freedom to roam without worrying about how to return home in order to find new paths to the other side of the mountain.

Many mathematicians (even nowadays) underesptimate the power of Ramanujan’s induction. They don’t realize how a very complicated theorem can be easily proven using induction instead of the conventional formal proofs.
